High School

High School Program Options

Forest allows for a blended program in which students can choose from one or more of the following options to create the optimum program for their high school experience:

Independent Study

In this option, students work on subjects independently. Students must regularly check-in with their ES to monitor student progress and to design projects/ assignments collaboratively that both capture the interests of the student and meet the state standards.

Block Classes

Forest Charter School offers a selection of classes that are held at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley. The classes are based on the interest of the students, and typically include subjects ranging from advanced college preparatory classes such as Biology and Chemistry to electives such as Drama and Studio Art. Students can sign up for courses so they are in class all day, or they can simply sign up for one or two classes so that they get more direct instruction from a teacher.

Online Classes

Forest works with a variety of online providers. These classes allow students an additional approach to designing an academic program. Some classes allow students to create their own schedule while others have required times that a student must be online to access a certain lesson. All classes are structured to fulfill the required state standards.

Internet Resources

The Global Studies Academy allows students to be a part of a small school community within the Forest Charter School system. Students take all their core classes together and do electives classes independently.
